The Cistercian abbey raised from the 12th century, whose community left the building in 1835. In the 17th and 18th centuries works of extension went on: the chapel of Santa Lucía, of 1741, and the Baroque Arco Real in the first precinct, the sgraffito façades of the 18th century around the square and, according to some authors, the cloister of the third precinct, rebuilt in the 17th century. It is the only monastery on the Cistercian Route without monastic life.
