The parish church of San Juan, now the cathedral, begun in 1515 over the old Mudéjar parish church, which was pulled down as the new work advanced. In 1538 Diego de Siloé advised replacing the Gothic piers with columns, and the Baroque vaults were not closed until 1690. The Gothic Revival façade dates from the 20th century, and inside is the Virgen de los Llanos.
