A fairground shaped like a frying pan, planned by Josef López Ximénez in 1783 on the Santa Catalina threshing floors and opened on 7 September that year, after 33 days of work. Antonio Cuesta finished it in 1784 with a second ring. Built of whitewashed rammed earth, it has had many alterations, among them the white-brick gateway of 1974.

We count visits ourselves, with no cookies and nothing stored on your device. To count people rather than clicks, we keep a one-way code derived from your connection and browser for at most 48 hours and then delete it; what remains is totals per page that identify no one. We never store your IP. We also use Plausible, analytics hosted in the European Union that likewise sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device, to learn which sites send readers here and how many searches are run, never what is searched for.
