Habsburg and Bourbon Spain

Briviesca

Today: Spain

Years
1492–1833
Role
Town of the Bureba

In 1305 the infanta Blanca of Portugal, after buying the town, decided to move it to its present site and lay it out in order; that is how the historic core arose, with its trapezoid plaza Mayor. From the 16th century is the Santa Clara complex, whose first stone was laid on 15 May 1512 by testamentary order of Mencía de Velasco, daughter of the Constables of Castile.
