The cathedral that replaced Santa Cruz, which was in poor repair, when Cádiz gained importance with the transfer of the Casa de Contratación in 1717. It was begun in 1722 to a design by Vicente Acero and declared finished in 1838, after 116 years and several architects, hence the mix of Baroque, Rococo and Neoclassical. The interior and the Clock Tower, finished in 1845, can be visited; the west tower dates from 1862.

We count visits ourselves, with no cookies and nothing stored on your device. To count people rather than clicks, we keep a one-way code derived from your connection and browser for at most 48 hours and then delete it; what remains is totals per page that identify no one. We never store your IP. We also use Plausible, analytics hosted in the European Union that likewise sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device, to learn which sites send readers here and how many searches are run, never what is searched for.
