A proto-Baroque church in the Herrerian tradition, which Gaspar de Villaverde built between 1605 and 1613 over the earlier Mudéjar one of 1249, with three naves, a large dome over the crossing and a brick façade between two towers. It is the mother house of the Order of the Holy Sepulchre in Spain; of the earlier fabric, part of the 14th-century cloister remains, half in ruins. It was given the title of basilica in 2020.
