The fort on Mount San Julián, raised around the cylindrical tower the English built there in 1706, during their occupation of the city for the Archduke. After Felipe V's victory a programme of works began in the 18th century, with Neoclassical fronts, and was not finished until the remodelling of 1861 to 1883; it guarded the mouth of the harbour. It now belongs to Telefónica, which shares the site with antennas of Radio Nacional and the police.

To count people rather than clicks, we keep a one-way code derived from your connection and browser for at most 48 hours and then delete it; what remains is totals per page that identify no one.
