Years

Role
Crown town, later held by the counts of Lemos, with its castle

Castro Caldelas, a Crown town from the 12th century, passed to the counts of Lemos, who held its castle. In 1534 King Charles I ruled in favour of the townspeople in the lawsuit over the taxes with which the count had paid for the castle's reconstruction. In 1794 the lordship of Lemos was incorporated into the House of Alba, and in 1809 French troops burned the town and the castle.

To count people rather than clicks, we keep a one-way code derived from your connection and browser for at most 48 hours and then delete it; what remains is totals per page that identify no one. We never store your IP. We also use Plausible, analytics hosted in the European Union that likewise sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device, to learn which sites send readers here and how many searches are run, never what is searched for.
