The royal fortress that Alfonso XI had built from 1328 beside the river, home of the Catholic Monarchs and afterwards the seat of the Inquisition tribunal until 1812. From the modern period are the Hall of Mosaics, the main hall, built in the 18th century as the Inquisition's chapel, and the entrance through the Torre de los Leones, opened in 1662. The interior has been closed for works since July 2025 and only the gardens can be visited.

We count visits ourselves, with no cookies and nothing stored on your device. To count people rather than clicks, we keep a one-way code derived from your connection and browser for at most 48 hours and then delete it; what remains is totals per page that identify no one. We never store your IP. We also use Plausible, analytics hosted in the European Union that likewise sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device, to learn which sites send readers here and how many searches are run, never what is searched for.
