The Baroque hospital that Cardinal Pedro de Salazar began to build in 1701, at first as a school for the cathedral choirboys, to a design by Francisco Hurtado Izquierdo. It opened on 11 November 1724, was the Hospital de Agudos until it closed in 1969, and since 1971 has housed the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters. It keeps the stone doorway with the cardinal's coat of arms, two courtyards and the main staircase.
