The old ablutions courtyard of the mosque, whose galleries Hernán Ruiz I remodelled between 1510 and 1516 under Bishop Martín Fernández de Angulo, with raised arches and capitals reused from the Islamic work. Orange trees are mentioned from 1512, and the present layout of the gardens in rows is the work of Bishop Francisco de Reynoso between 1597 and 1601. Today it is planted with orange trees, palms and cypresses.
