The building the Inquisition raised beside the remains of the castle, ceded by Felipe II in 1574, as a prison and tribunal; the inquisitors occupied it from 1583. In August 1812 the French blew up much of it, and it was the provincial prison until 1972. After a rehabilitation from 1985 to 1991, using reconstructive techniques, it is the seat of the Provincial Historical Archive.

To count people rather than clicks, we keep a one-way code derived from your connection and browser for at most 48 hours and then delete it; what remains is totals per page that identify no one.
