The Gothic cathedral, begun in the late 12th century, to which the Renaissance added the cloister, whose plans Juan de Herrera drew in 1575 or 1576 for Bishop Quiroga and which José Martín de Aldehuela reformed between 1764 and 1766. Inside stands Ventura Rodríguez's Baroque Transparente, of the 18th century. The façade is neo-Gothic, by Vicente Lampérez, and was rebuilt up to 1910 after the Giraldo bell tower collapsed in 1902.
