Of the Gothic cathedral with a single nave (22.98 m wide, the widest of the Gothic ones), whose construction was decided in 1417, the Baroque façade and the bell tower belong to these years. The façade's first stone was laid in 1606, work resumed in 1680 and went on from 1730 to Pere Costa i Cases's design (the rose window bears the date 1733), and its sculptures are from the 1960s; the staircase of ninety steps is dated 1607 or 1685 to 1699, depending on the source. The octagonal bell tower was begun in 1580, continued from 1757 to a smaller design by Agustí Soriano and had its revolving angel by 1764; in the treasury the Romanesque Tapestry of Creation can be admired.
