The Renaissance palace of the family of Hernando de Zafra, secretary to the Catholic Monarchs, on the Carrera del Darro. The date of its construction, 1539, is carved at the top of the façade, and the work is attributed to Sebastián de Alcántara, a pupil of Siloé. In 1917 it was bought from the heirs of Leopoldo Eguílaz to house the Archaeological Museum, which still occupies it.

We count visits ourselves, with no cookies and nothing stored on your device. To count people rather than clicks, we keep a one-way code derived from your connection and browser for at most 48 hours and then delete it; what remains is totals per page that identify no one. We never store your IP. We also use Plausible, analytics hosted in the European Union that likewise sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device, to learn which sites send readers here and how many searches are run, never what is searched for.
