The Baroque palace that Lorenzo Fernández de Villavicencio began to build in 1664 on one side of the alcázar, over Arab remains; the article's history places it in the 18th century. It holds what was saved of the municipal pharmacy's dispensary, and its main tower, the highest in the city, houses the camera obscura. It is part of the Alcázar complex, open to visits all year.

We count visits ourselves, with no cookies and nothing stored on your device. To count people rather than clicks, we keep a one-way code derived from your connection and browser for at most 48 hours and then delete it; what remains is totals per page that identify no one. We never store your IP. We also use Plausible, analytics hosted in the European Union that likewise sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device, to learn which sites send readers here and how many searches are run, never what is searched for.
