Habsburg and Bourbon Spain

Lloret de Mar

Today: Spain

Years
1492–1833
Role
Fishing and seafaring town on the coast of La Selva

Lloret, whose present centre formed in the 15th century beside the beach, built its parish church of San Román between 1509 and 1522. It suffered wars, plague and hunger in the 17th century, and in 1788 its fishermen refused to pay the fish tithe. The free trade decree with the colonies of 1778 gave a boost to its seamen.

To count people rather than clicks, we keep a one-way code derived from your connection and browser for at most 48 hours and then delete it; what remains is totals per page that identify no one.
