The lighthouse of the port of Málaga, the work of the engineer Joaquín María Pery y Guzmán, whose construction began in 1813 and ended in 1817; for a century before it, a wooden lantern designed in 1717 had served as the light on the same spot. A keeper's lodging was added at its base in 1853 to 1858 and enlarged in 1913 to 1915, and it was rebuilt in 1939 after damage in the civil war. Harbour works have left it in the middle of the port enclosure.
