A parish church raised in 1750 to 1767 in place of the earlier one, which from 1485 occupied what was almost certainly the great mosque: work began between 1750 and 1755 under Bishop Juan de Eulate y Santa Cruz, was finished by 1762 and the church was consecrated in 1767. It has a basilica plan of three naves, a rococo doorway of ochre stone and a four-stage tower that Bishop Luis Fernández de Córdoba built in 1618. In 1936 a fire brought down the crossing, and rebuilding began in 1937.
