Today: Spain

Years
1492–1833
Role
City of the dukes of Nájera

The dukes of Nájera, a title created by the Catholic Monarchs in 1482, ruled the city until 1600, when they left no heir. On 14 September 1520 the town rose against Duke Antonio Manrique de Lara and was sacked, with damage valued at 70,000 ducats. Carlos I visited it in 1520, 1523 and 1542 and Felipe II in 1592, and in 1672 it had 1000 households in three parishes.

We count visits ourselves, with no cookies and nothing stored on your device. To count people rather than clicks, we keep a one-way code derived from your connection and browser for at most 48 hours and then delete it; what remains is totals per page that identify no one. We never store your IP. We also use Plausible, analytics hosted in the European Union that likewise sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device, to learn which sites send readers here and how many searches are run, never what is searched for.
