A Benedictine monastery of medieval origin, with documents from 942, whose present church and processional cloister were begun in 1581. The church was contracted in 1691 to Pedro de Monteagudo on a plan by Fray Gabriel de Casas and was still under construction in the 18th century, and the porter's cloister was built between 1747 and 1749. The Mercedarians have occupied it since 1890 and the cloister buildings, the kitchen, the refectory and the chapter house hold a museum.

We count visits ourselves, with no cookies and nothing stored on your device. To count people rather than clicks, we keep a one-way code derived from your connection and browser for at most 48 hours and then delete it; what remains is totals per page that identify no one. We never store your IP. We also use Plausible, analytics hosted in the European Union that likewise sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device, to learn which sites send readers here and how many searches are run, never what is searched for.
