The defence tower that the Archbishop of Tarragona, Pere de Cardona, ordered built in 1530 against attacks by pirates and corsairs. The exterior keeps essentially its original appearance, with Cardona's coat of arms over the doorway, and the interior has been altered. The town council bought it in 1974 and has fitted it out for civil weddings, exhibitions and other cultural events.
