The Gothic cathedral, begun in 1299 over the Romanesque church consecrated in 1163, which became the seat of a new bishopric in 1593. From 1623 the master builder Claudi Casals raised the apse, still in the Gothic style, and the west façade, to which the Baroque portal was added in 1768; in 1780 a Baroque cancel was placed before the door of San Agustín. The Romanesque cloister was altered completely in the 18th century.
