A Renaissance building raised between 1557 and 1563 in the plaza Mayor to serve as an exchange hall and granary; in the middle of the 17th century it became the town hall. Its rear rests on the ashlars of the city wall, and it now stands between party walls. The three-storey façade carries a frieze of the entry of Clement VII and Charles V into Bologna in 1530, and the top floor is by Fernando Chueca, of 1969.
