The Gothic cathedral begun after 22 June 1262 on the site of the mosque, to which later centuries added the Renaissance Obra Nova, started in 1566, and the Baroque Puerta de los Hierros, which Konrad Rudolf designed in 1703 and which was finished in 1713. A Neoclassical remodelling began in 1774, and almost all of it was removed in 1972. It is visited together with the cathedral museum.
