A rich villa by Estói, lived in from the start of the 1st century and enlarged in the 2nd and 3rd around a great peristyle with a garden and a pool. In the 4th century the temple went up, its emblem, later used by Christians and Muslims, and the house was renewed for the last time with marble columns and mosaic floors of fish and sea creatures, which also line its baths. It has been a national monument since 1910 and has an interpretation centre for visitors.

We count visits ourselves, with no cookies and nothing stored on your device. To count people rather than clicks, we keep a one-way code derived from your connection and browser for at most 48 hours and then delete it; what remains is totals per page that identify no one. We never store your IP. We also use Plausible, analytics hosted in the European Union that likewise sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device, to learn which sites send readers here and how many searches are run, never what is searched for.
