The most important open-air late Roman burial ground in the Roman West, beside the Francolí, with some 2,051 graves from the middle of the 3rd century to the 5th. It grew around a basilica dedicated to Saint Fructuosus and his deacons, which disappeared when the tobacco factory was built, the work that uncovered it in 1923. There are burials in amphorae and under tiles, marble sarcophagi, mosaic grave covers and three crypts. Closed from 1992, its in situ display area reopened on 18 May 2013, with an interpretation centre.

To count people rather than clicks, we keep a one-way code derived from your connection and browser for at most 48 hours and then delete it; what remains is totals per page that identify no one. We never store your IP. We also use Plausible, analytics hosted in the European Union that likewise sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device, to learn which sites send readers here and how many searches are run, never what is searched for.
