Roman Hispania
Turobriga
Today: Aroche, Spain
- Years
- 15 BCE–235
Founded under Augustus, between 15 and 10 BCE, with the people of at least two pre-Roman towns, Arucci and Turobriga, and Latin settlers, to close the occupation of Celtic Baeturia. It grew under the Flavians and was enlarged under Hadrian; Pliny names it. Under the Severans, in the 3rd century, it began to be abandoned, and its stones went into the castle of Aroche.
