Visigothic kingdom

El Bovalar

Today: Seròs, Spain

Years
409–711

A hamlet on the left bank of the Segre, some two kilometres from Seròs, in the province of Lleida, with its basilica, its baptistery and its cemetery. The church is thought to be of the late 4th century, and the houses crowded beside it, of stone and rammed earth, with a shared press probably for olive oil, are of the Visigothic era. A fire destroyed it in the years of the Muslim conquest: the gold coins found, of Egica, Wittiza and Achila, date that to after 713 or 714.
