Years
1492–1833
Role
City and episcopal seat of the Sierra

Albarracín, in the Crown of Aragon from 1300, was officially called "Ciudad de Santa María de Albarracín" until the 19th century. It had its first bishop of its own, Martín de Salvatierra (1578 to 1583), with the diocese split from that of Segorbe, and built its cathedral of the Saviour from 1572. The alcázar was occupied until the end of the 16th century and was destroyed in the 18th after the War of the Spanish Succession.

To count people rather than clicks, we keep a one-way code derived from your connection and browser for at most 48 hours and then delete it; what remains is totals per page that identify no one. We never store your IP. We also use Plausible, analytics hosted in the European Union that likewise sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device, to learn which sites send readers here and how many searches are run, never what is searched for.
