The cathedral of the Saviour stands on the remains of a Romanesque church of the late 12th century and was begun in 1572, with Martín de Castañeda and Quinto Pierres Vedel among its architects; the tower was finished in 1600. It has a single nave with ribbed vaults and a Renaissance tower of four stages, and in the early 18th century the interior was remodelled with Baroque elements. It is entered, unusually, through the head of the church; it is a seat of the diocese of Teruel and Albarracín together with Teruel cathedral.
