The Neoclassical gate paid for by Cardinal Lorenzana, archbishop of Toledo, in the reign of Carlos III, built under Antonio Juana Jordán and opened on 4 December 1788. It replaced one of the medieval gates in the town wall. It is held to be the last work of Alcalá's golden age.

To count people rather than clicks, we keep a one-way code derived from your connection and browser for at most 48 hours and then delete it; what remains is totals per page that identify no one.
