Alfaro

Today: Spain

Years
1492–1833
Role
City from 1629

Alfaro had a synagogue until the expulsion of the Jews in 1492, and Felipe IV granted it the title of city in 1629 in exchange for 40,000 maravedís paid in instalments. In the 17th and 18th centuries it enjoyed great prosperity, which left the houses of many distinguished families. Between 26 and 28 September 1832 the last extraordinary meeting of the Real Sociedad Económica de La Rioja was held in the city.

To count people rather than clicks, we keep a one-way code derived from your connection and browser for at most 48 hours and then delete it; what remains is totals per page that identify no one.
