A brick collegiate church whose first stone was laid on 26 November 1562 to replace the church of San Miguel de Arriba, which was about to collapse. The work took more than a hundred years and gave a Classicist façade 45 metres high between two almost identical towers, with twelve side chapels; the image of Saint Michael on the high altar is by Gregorio Fernández, of 1635. It was closed for seven years for restoration and reopened in 2011, and a colony of storks nests on its roof.
