The hermitage of Saint Bernard, built in 1690 on the Gálvez farm, to which the Gibraltarians exiled in 1704 brought the image of Our Lady of Europe and which became the first centre of the new Algeciras. Damaged by the 1755 earthquake, it was partly demolished and rebuilt in 1769, with a two-storey Baroque façade and a dome painted with the twelve Apostles. It was sacked in 1931; today it is an auxiliary chapel of La Palma.
