The parish church of the Plaza Alta, begun in 1720 when the chapel of Europe became too small for the population of the city refounded in 1704. It opened for worship on 6 June 1738, two aisles were added in 1790 and 1793, and it was consecrated in 1829 when the bell tower was finished, which reuses ashlars from the medieval walls. The tower keeps the pendulum clock installed in 1804.
