It was a lordship in the 13th century, and Fernando III was proclaimed king of Castile here on 14 June 1217. In the modern centuries the parish church stands out, built in the second half of the 16th century with the date 1598 over the crossing and renewed with a Neoclassical façade in the late 18th century. When the Old Regime fell it became a constitutional municipality in the district of Frechilla.
