A fortress-like cathedral whose present fabric was begun in 1411, after the first church was razed during the Portuguese occupation. From the 16th century come the cloister (1509 to 1520), the Plateresque window of the tower (1532), the bell stage, finished in 1542, and the choir, of 1555 to 1559; the main doorway was commissioned in 1619 and Bishop Marín de Rodezno remodelled the main chapel between 1681 and 1706. The cloister can be visited with the cathedral museum.

We count visits ourselves, with no cookies and nothing stored on your device. To count people rather than clicks, we keep a one-way code derived from your connection and browser for at most 48 hours and then delete it; what remains is totals per page that identify no one. We never store your IP. We also use Plausible, analytics hosted in the European Union that likewise sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device, to learn which sites send readers here and how many searches are run, never what is searched for.
