The Renaissance cathedral of Baeza, built on the site of the main mosque. A Plateresque cathedral begun in 1529 collapsed in 1567; Andrés de Vandelvira directed the rebuilding, which was completed in 1593 under Alfonso Barba. Older parts survive, such as the Mudéjar Door of the Moon from the 13th century, and the tower was rebuilt around 1960.

We count visits ourselves, with no cookies and nothing stored on your device. To count people rather than clicks, we keep a one-way code derived from your connection and browser for at most 48 hours and then delete it; what remains is totals per page that identify no one. We never store your IP. We also use Plausible, analytics hosted in the European Union that likewise sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device, to learn which sites send readers here and how many searches are run, never what is searched for.
