The palace that the Cortes of Monzón of 1547 obliged the Diputació del General to build as an annex to the Palau Reial Major, to lodge the king's lieutenants. Antoni Carbonell directed the works, from 1549 to 1557, in late Gothic with a Renaissance-style courtyard; the viceroys did not want to live in it. It was the seat of the Archive of the Crown of Aragon until 1993 and is now used for ceremonial events, exhibitions and courses.
