A fortress on the Monte Boi, of medieval origin (there are works of the 12th century), which owes its present appearance to the 16th-century rebuilding attributed to Diego Sarmiento de Acuña, Count of Gondomar. Late in that century the Italian engineers known as the Fratín brothers added bastions at the order of the Marquis of Cerralbo, and the gate of Felipe IV is of the 17th century. Since 1966 it has been the Parador del Conde de Gondomar, and a path runs round the castle.
