The palace raised over the ruins of the Andalusi alcázar, which the Catholic Monarchs granted in 1477 to Diego Gómez de Torres. The Ulloa family remodelled it around 1600, the date given to its courtyard, and around the middle of the 18th century Jorge de Quiñones had the main façade reorganised. It was a noble residence until 1932 and is now the main seat of the Museo de Cáceres; the Andalusi cistern survives under the courtyard.

We count visits ourselves, with no cookies and nothing stored on your device. To count people rather than clicks, we keep a one-way code derived from your connection and browser for at most 48 hours and then delete it; what remains is totals per page that identify no one. We never store your IP. We also use Plausible, analytics hosted in the European Union that likewise sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device, to learn which sites send readers here and how many searches are run, never what is searched for.
