The Paeria house, the town hall, on the Plaza Mayor, which replaced the Sala de la Paeria, known from 1332, and a 15th-century house whose lower part it reuses. Commissioned in the 17th century from the sculptor Francesc Puig and enlarged a century later by Jaume Padró to house the prisons, it is Baroque, with reliefs on the keystones of its doorways. In 1678 the Paeria bought some twenty portraits of the kings of Spain from Ferdinand the Catholic on, now in the Sala Gran.
