Cuéllar

Today: Spain

Years
1492–1833
Role
Town of the Alburquerque lordship

Cuéllar was a lordship of the House of la Cueva, Dukes of Alburquerque, until the abolition of lordships in 1811, and Beltrán de la Cueva died in its castle on 1 November 1492. In the 17th century the town fell back sharply and in 1751 had 2,194 inhabitants. In the 18th century it recovered thanks to Carlos III's rules on the distribution of common lands, and the French sacked its churches in 1808 and 1809.

To count people rather than clicks, we keep a one-way code derived from your connection and browser for at most 48 hours and then delete it; what remains is totals per page that identify no one. We never store your IP. We also use Plausible, analytics hosted in the European Union that likewise sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device, to learn which sites send readers here and how many searches are run, never what is searched for.
