The Gothic church that the Mendoza, lords of Colmenar, had raised in the 15th century, the work of Juan Guas, architect of the Catholic Monarchs. Its tower, over 50 metres tall, is by Rodrigo Gil de Hontañón and dates from 1530; the rib vaults, the choir and its staircase are of the late 16th century, and the Renaissance high altarpiece was contracted in 1566 and finished around 1579. A sacred art museum gathers painting and sculpture from the Renaissance to the Rococo.
