The defence tower built between 1786 and 1787 to plans by the military engineer Ramón Santander, on the headland of the Punta del Morro, to protect the south-east coast of Menorca from Algerian pirates. It is round and almost cylindrical, of marés stone faced with large blocks, on three levels. With the tower of Punta Prima, of 1787, it served as the model for the eleven Martello-style towers raised on the island between 1798 and 1802.
