Years

Role
Town of the Trasmiera and head of its lordship, on the bay of Santoña

Escalante, in the Trasmiera beside the bay of Santoña, was the head of a lordship: Beltrán Ladrón de Guevara, lord of Escalante, founded the convent of San Sebastián de Hano on the island of Montehano in 1441. The lawsuits between the town and the convent, over firewood and control of the estuaries, went on for centuries. The convent passed into private hands in 1835 with the disentailment.

To count people rather than clicks, we keep a one-way code derived from your connection and browser for at most 48 hours and then delete it; what remains is totals per page that identify no one.
