The Neoclassical building by Antonio Echevarría that replaced the chapel of Santa María la Antigua, beside the tree under which the Juntas of the lordship of Vizcaya met. Work began in 1826 and the building is dated 1826 to 1833; it combines the functions of church and parliament in an elliptical hall, and the glass room has been a museum of the history of Vizcaya since 1964. It is now the seat of the Juntas Generales of Vizcaya.
