A Baroque church of brick and glazed tiles that stands out among the four parish churches of the town for its decoration and colour. Documents about it date from the late 15th century and a side chapel was finished in 1508; the main chapel was enlarged in 1689, and the bell tower, of four stages with plaster, brick and coloured ceramic, was built in 1759 after the earlier one fell in the Lisbon earthquake of 1755. Vasco Núñez de Balboa is buried in the Comendadores chapel.
