The cathedral begun in 1203 and consecrated in 1278, which served as barracks from 1707 until the army handed it over in 1948. From after 1492 date the Plateresque doorways of the canons' quarters beside the north gallery of the cloister: the chapter house door by Lope de Arrue (1549) and the door of the chapel of Santa María la Antigua by Jeroni Xanxo (1559/1562). The rest of the fabric, Romanesque and Gothic, is earlier.

We count visits ourselves, with no cookies and nothing stored on your device. To count people rather than clicks, we keep a one-way code derived from your connection and browser for at most 48 hours and then delete it; what remains is totals per page that identify no one. We never store your IP. We also use Plausible, analytics hosted in the European Union that likewise sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device, to learn which sites send readers here and how many searches are run, never what is searched for.
